Broken Dreams
The world was a normal place until the Breaking. On November twenty first at two twenty two PM every person over the age of seventeen disappeared. No noise, no puff of smoke, no nothing. Just gone. At first, no one believed it. Then, everyone thought it was one big party. Then food started running low, and everyone panicked. Bullies ruled the town, and people died. Soon things started to change even more; people and animals alike started to change, developing powers and odd mutations like wings and fangs, speed and the ability to change form. There are even some vampires, some werewolves, and every power and ability is different.
The people who had powers are called the Freaks; the ones who don’t are the Normals, even though they are more Freaks than Normals. Soon kids started to break off into three groups; the Monsters, the evil Freaks who roam the night and terrorize everyone else. Killers by instinct. The Angels; the good Freaks who have dedicated their lives to protecting the Normals at all costs. The ones who make sure all the Normals are inside their houses before dark, which guard their neighborhoods and would fight to the death to protect those without powers. And then of course, the Normals; mostly young children who have had no chance to developed powers, and some older children who have no power. Though, every group has their quirks. Some of the Normals break away from how they are supposed to act; learn to use weapons and become warriors of their kind. Some of the Monsters break away and become nomads, denying what they have become and what is now their nature. Most of the Angles though stick to who they are, knowing what they are supposed to do. Having control over what they have become and using it to others’ advantage. All of this is called; The Breaking.
